Shared projects (beta) let a friend work in one of your projects on your computer, with your files and your Claude. Both sides opt in; sharing needs Pro.

To share a project with a friend in Shuriken, you both turn on Shared projects (beta) in Settings › Projects, and then you pick Share… in the project's ⋯ menu. Your friend works in that project on your computer. Their chats run there, with your files and your Claude. You see everything they do, and you can stop it at any time.

Shared projects ship in Shuriken 5.1 as an opt-in beta. It is off by default, and both people have to opt in, so nobody ends up in a shared project they didn't choose. [Who gets what access](https://shuriken.sh/blog/shared-projects-trust) is worth reading before you invite anyone. This post is the how-to.

## Turn on the beta, on both sides #

- Open Settings › Projects and turn on Shared projects (beta).
- Ask your friend to do the same in their Shuriken. They can be on any plan.

The owner needs the switch to share, and the friend needs it to join. If you invite someone who still has it off, they get a card instead of a dead end: "your name invited you to a shared project (beta). Turn on Shared projects (beta) to join", with one button. Until they do, you see "Waiting for their name to turn on the beta".

Turning the beta off asks you first. Then it leaves the shared projects you are in and stops sharing yours.

## Share a project #

Sharing needs Pro or Founding on the owner's side ([pricing](https://shuriken.sh/pricing) has the plans).

- In the project's ⋯ menu, pick Share… (or go to Project settings › Sharing).
- Enter your friend's Shuriken email.
- Choose how long: 1 day, 1 week (the default) or until you stop.
- Set a daily spend cap on your Claude. It starts at $10's worth, and their chats pause for the day once they reach it.
- Tick I trust their name fully. The invite doesn't go out until you do.

That last box means what it says. A member can read and change everything in the project, run commands on your computer as you, and use your Claude. Their chats count against your Claude plan, and providers' terms may not allow someone else to use your subscription, so check your plan's terms before you share.

From both switches on to a friend's chats running on your computer.

## What you see while they work #

Each message a friend sends carries their name and avatar. You see who is online in the project and who queued what, so a row in the queue always has a person next to it. Their chats live in your project on your computer, the same as yours.

Shuriken runs your agents on your own computers; its cloud only relays end-to-end encrypted messages.

## What a member can't do #

A member can't:

- use the terminal;
- push, merge or open pull requests;
- change the project's settings or its sources;
- reach anything outside that one project.

For now, only Claude chats run in shared projects. Stop sharing cuts their access at once, and the chats they had stay in your project. A member who leaves keeps nothing.

## What our cloud can't do #

The traffic between your friend's app and your computer goes through our relay end-to-end encrypted, so the cloud can't read it. The cloud can't create access either. Your app signs each grant with your account key, and your computer checks that signature before it lets anyone in. How our encryption works shows every key and the code behind it.

## What may change during the beta #

The wording, the caps and which agents work in shared projects may all change while it is a beta, and you may hit rough edges. If you'd rather not be part of it, switch off Shared projects (beta) in Settings › Projects. If you don't have Shuriken yet, [try it here](https://shuriken.sh/).
