Shuriken runs Claude Code, Codex and other agents with your own subscriptions and keys. We never resell tokens or add a margin.

Yes, you can use the Claude subscription you already pay for. Shuriken runs the agent CLIs (Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and 64 more) on your own computers, signed in with your accounts and your keys. Your provider bills you, under your plan. We never resell tokens, never add a margin, and never send you a bill for model usage.

## Why we built it this way #

### You already pay for the model #

The people we built Shuriken for already have a Claude plan, a ChatGPT plan, often both, and an API key somewhere for emergencies. Asking those people to buy tokens a second time, through us, at a markup, made no sense.

So Shuriken doesn't have a model bill. It has your plans.

### A margin on tokens would make us want you to use more #

This was the deciding reason. A company that earns a cut of every token has a quiet incentive to make your agents chattier, your prompts longer and your retries more frequent.

Several Shuriken features pull the other way, and they only make sense because we don't earn on tokens. [Automatic source switching](https://shuriken.sh/features/source-switching) moves a chat to your next account when one reaches its limit, so the plans you already pay for get used before anything else. [5-hour clocks](https://shuriken.sh/features/session-clock) start an idle Claude account's 5-hour window with one tiny background request, so its limit comes back earlier.

### One bill per provider is easier to read #

Your Anthropic bill stays your Anthropic bill. Your OpenAI bill stays your OpenAI bill. When you want to know what a month cost, you look where you always looked.

## How your sources get used #

In Shuriken a source is an account or API key you add. You can add several per provider. The order they take chats in is simple:

- Subscriptions first. The account in use keeps working until it reaches your switch point (99% by default, adjustable from 50% to 100%) or hits a limit. Then the chat moves to the subscription with the most room.
- API keys last, and only if you say so. "Switch to API keys" starts off. Turn it on and a key only takes chats once every subscription is out. A spend cap per fallback run, $25 by default, counts what the run spends across every key it uses and stops it there, so a long night can't turn into a surprise invoice. We wrote more about that in [API keys as a last resort](https://shuriken.sh/blog/api-keys-last-resort).

Shuriken 5.1.0 adds one more kind: a source that points at a local model in Ollama or LM Studio. Shuriken doesn't price its turns; they read "local". Like a key, it never goes ahead of a subscription: it takes chats when you pick it, or once every subscription is out (by itself for Claude Code and Codex, with "Switch to API keys" on for other agents).

Your subscriptions and keys, each billed by its own provider, in one list.

## What we do charge for #

Shuriken has two plans, and neither one touches model usage.

- Free is a plan, not a trial: two sources, two linked devices, no card. It includes every one of the 67 [coding agents](https://shuriken.sh/features/coding-agents), automatic switching, 5-hour clocks, global MCPs and parallel agents.
- Pro removes the limits on sources and devices. From Shuriken 5.1.0 it also holds sharing a project in the shared projects beta.

Prices are on the [pricing page](https://shuriken.sh/pricing). What Pro pays for is the app and the people who build it. Never tokens.

Shuriken moves a running chat to another of your own accounts when one reaches its limit, on every device.

## A note on terms #

Add the plans and keys you own and are entitled to use. Your account stays under its provider's terms, and those are worth a read: some providers don't allow sharing a subscription sign-in, and doing it can put the account at risk. Shuriken will never suggest buying extra accounts to get around a limit. Switching is for getting the most out of what is already yours.

## Where your keys live #

Sign-ins and keys are kept in your encrypted vault and travel sealed between your devices. Our cloud links the devices and relays the sealed messages without being able to read them, and it runs no agents.

If that is how you want to pay for AI, [try Shuriken](https://shuriken.sh/) and add the plans you already have.

## Frequently asked questions

**Does Shuriken charge for tokens or model usage?**

No. Your agents use your own subscriptions and API keys, and your provider bills you directly. Shuriken never resells tokens or adds a margin.

**Can I use my Claude subscription in Shuriken?**

Yes. Add the Claude account you already pay for as a source. Shuriken runs Claude Code on your computer, signed in with that account.

**What happens when every subscription runs out?**

By default the chat pauses and queued messages wait for a limit to reset. Turn on Switch to API keys and your API keys take over, under a spend cap per fallback run ($25 by default).

**Can Shuriken's cloud read my API keys?**

No. Keys and sign-ins are kept in your encrypted vault and travel sealed between your devices. The cloud only relays sealed messages.

Source switching

One account runs dry. The next one takes over.

Add the Claude, Codex and Gemini accounts you own. At your switch point, your chats move to another of them and keep going.
