Pick Superset if you're on a Mac and want to script agents from a CLI, SDK or MCP server, need a SOC 2 Type II report, or want an iPhone app today. Pick Shuriken if you also work on Windows or Linux, or want running chats to move between your Claude or ChatGPT accounts by themselves.

<!-- Superset is renaming (their post, 2026-10-12, updated 2026-10-21). When the new name is out: replace "Superset" with "<New name> (formerly Superset)" in the title, description and the first mention, and "<New name>" elsewhere. Keep the slug /compare/superset. -->

We make Shuriken. We tried to be fair; corrections welcome at office@shuriken.sh.

## Quick answer #

Pick Superset if you're on a Mac, want to script your agents from a CLI, SDK or MCP server, need a SOC 2 Type II report, or want an iPhone app today. Pick Shuriken if you also work on Windows or Linux, or you run several Claude or ChatGPT accounts and want running chats to move between them by themselves, with voice dictation built in.

One naming note: on 12 October 2026 Superset [announced it is changing its name](https://superset.sh/blog/a-new-name). Until the new name is revealed we call it Superset, and this page will follow the new name when it lands.

## What Superset does well #

You can read the code. The full source is on GitHub under the Elastic License 2.0. Superset is careful to call it source-available rather than open source, which we appreciate.

Everything is scriptable. Spawn workspaces from a CLI, use the TypeScript SDK in CI, or let an agent drive Superset over its own MCP server. If you build pipelines around your agents, that's a real advantage. Shuriken is an app first, and there's no public SDK.

It takes compliance seriously. Superset says it completed a SOC 2 Type II audit with an independent auditor, with the report on Enterprise. For a company buying seats, that can settle the question on its own.

Pro is cheap per seat. $20 per user a month, or $15 on a yearly plan, with unlimited users, remote access, automations, Linear and Slack integrations and mobile.

The iPhone app is live. Check on agents and review diffs from an iPhone or iPad today.

A wide plugin shelf. Its docs list plugins for GitHub, Sentry, Stripe, Linear, Notion, Slack and more, plus workflow recipes like "Triage New Sentry Issues".

In Shuriken you can dictate to any agent, turned into text on your own computer by default.

## Where Shuriken is different #

### Windows and Linux, not just macOS #

Shuriken ships stable desktop builds for Windows 10 and 11 and for Linux (AppImage and .deb, x64 and Arm), alongside macOS. If half your team is on Windows, that settles it. See [Shuriken on Windows](https://shuriken.sh/windows) and [on Linux](https://shuriken.sh/linux).

### Accounts that switch by themselves #

Superset lets you keep several Claude Code and Codex logins and pick which one new launches use. That is useful, and it's more than most tools do. What it doesn't do, per its own docs, is move a running agent: "a running agent keeps its account until you relaunch it."

Shuriken's whole idea is the opposite. Add each Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or other sign-in you own as a source. When the one in use reaches your switch point or the provider reports a limit, your chats move to the account with the most room, on every device at once. A Claude Code chat moves on its next request, subagents and workflows included. Other agents move when their turn ends. You see a "Switched to …" card, and that's it. [How source switching works](https://shuriken.sh/features/source-switching).

Only add accounts you own and are entitled to use. Providers' terms may not allow sharing a subscription sign-in.

### Session limits #

Claude's 5-hour window starts the first time an account is used. Shuriken uses that: when an account's window isn't running, it sends that account one tiny request in the background, once per window, so its window starts. Limits then come back early, and your chats stay where they are. It's on by default; read [session limits](https://shuriken.sh/features/session-clock).

### Voice with paste-while-talking #

Dictation is built in. Your speech is turned into text on your own computer by NVIDIA Parakeet by default, and it works offline. Prefer a cloud model? Add your own key for ElevenLabs, AssemblyAI or another live provider. You see a live transcript as you talk. Paste a stack trace in the middle of a sentence and it lands exactly where you were, not at the end. Since Shuriken 5.1, your voice works in the browser's Design mode too: point at an element and say the change. See [voice](https://shuriken.sh/features/voice).

### MCP sign-ins across devices #

Superset shares MCP servers across the accounts on a host ([usage docs](https://docs.superset.sh/usage)). Shuriken's [global MCPs](https://shuriken.sh/features/global-mcps) go one step further: one list for every project and account, handed to Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and more, assigned to all projects or chosen ones, with sign-ins that travel end-to-end encrypted between your computers and servers.

## Pricing #

Superset prices in US dollars per user; Shuriken in euros, VAT included for EU consumers, per account.

| | Superset | Shuriken |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Free | $0: 1 user, local workspaces, desktop app, CLI | €0, no card, not a trial: 2 sources, 2 linked devices, every agent, switching, voice |
| Paid | Pro: $20 per user a month, or $15 a month billed yearly ($180 a year) | Pro: €49 a month, or €490 a year (2 months free) |
| What paid adds | Unlimited users, remote access, automations, Linear and Slack, mobile | Unlimited sources and devices |
| Enterprise | Custom: SSO, SCIM, audit logs, SOC 2 report, SLA | None today |

Superset Pro is cheaper. Shuriken Pro is priced for people who run many accounts and would otherwise spend the day logging in and out. Neither bills model usage: you bring your own plans and keys. Details on our [pricing page](https://shuriken.sh/pricing).

## Using them together #

Both apps put each agent in its own git worktree, so they can share a repo without clashing. A realistic split: Superset on the Mac where you script things with its CLI, Shuriken on the Windows or Linux box, or wherever your extra accounts live.

## Frequently asked questions

**Does Superset run on Windows?**

Not yet. Superset's install docs say Windows is not yet available; the desktop app runs on macOS (Apple Silicon or Intel) with an experimental Linux AppImage (read 2026-10-22).

**Is there a free plan?**

Both have one. Superset Free covers one user with local workspaces, the desktop app and the CLI. Shuriken Free has no card and no time limit: 2 sources, 2 linked devices and every agent.

**What licence is Superset under?**

Superset publishes its full source on GitHub under the Elastic License 2.0 (ELv2). Superset itself calls that source-available, not OSI-approved open source.

**Can Superset switch accounts when one hits its limit?**

Superset supports several Claude Code and Codex logins per host. You pick the default for new launches; its docs say a running agent keeps its account until you relaunch it.

**Superset is changing its name. Will this page change?**

Yes. Superset announced a new name for later in October 2026. When it's out we update this page, and the address stays the same.

Voice

Talk to your agents. Privately.

Dictation runs on your own computer by default, so no speech service hears you. Or add your own key for a live speech provider.
