Limit reset alerts: never miss a free reset
Shuriken spots free Claude and Codex limit resets on the accounts you added, shows what each refills with a countdown to expiry, and e-mails you.

Contents
Claude and Codex sometimes give your plan a free limit reset: one refill of your 5-hour limit, your weekly limit, or both. It sits quietly in a settings page until it expires. Shuriken checks the Claude and Codex accounts you added, tells you as soon as it sees one, and counts down to its expiry so it never runs out unused.
Why we built it#
On 22 September 2026, with Claude Opus 5.5, Anthropic gave subscription users "a rate limit reset, which you can now save and use whenever you choose" (Anthropic). Claude's help page says resets are "given occasionally to eligible plans", show in Settings › Usage, and that an unused one "expires on the day and time listed on the offer" (Claude Help Center). Nothing told you it was there. If you run more than one account, that is one more page per account to keep checking.
We already read each account's usage to know when to hot swap to the next one. The resets come back in the same answer, so it was a short step to show them.
What you see#
When one of your accounts has a free reset, a card at the top of Home names the accounts, and a notification with View details appears when a new one shows up. For each account you see the provider (Claude or Codex), what it refills (5-hour, weekly or a Full reset of both) and a live countdown to when it expires.
The first time each new reset appears, you also get an e-mail, even if you turned product news off. You can switch it off in Settings › Notifications › Email.
How it stays private#
Your sign-ins never leave your computer. The app reads the resets with the same sign-in it already uses for usage, on your machine. What reaches our cloud is the provider, what the reset refills, when it expires and a salted hash of the reset. We keep those with your account so the e-mail goes once and not again. No usage figure, no account e-mail, no plan.
If you leave Share anonymous reset sightings on in Settings (it is on by default), your computer also sends the plan type, as a broad group such as Pro, Max or Plus, and the cloud counts the reset on our public limit reset tracker. That count has no account, device, address or hash on it: only the provider, what the reset refills, when it expires and which plan types saw it, which the tracker shows as "seen on Pro, Max". The plan type is never kept with your account, and with sharing off it is not sent at all. That count is how the tracker knows a new one is live.
Before you use one#
Claude's help page says a reset can't be undone and never moves the day your week resets. The countdown shows how long the reset stays available.
Shuriken is free to try: download it and add your Claude and Codex accounts.

Frequently asked questions
What is a free limit reset?
An occasional refill a provider gives eligible plans. Claude's set your 5-hour limit, your weekly limit or both back to full when you use them, and an unused one expires. Codex calls its own banked resets.
Does Shuriken use the reset for me?
No. Shuriken tells you a reset is there, what it refills and when it expires. You use it yourself, in Claude's Settings › Usage or in Codex.
Do my sign-ins leave my computer?
No. Shuriken reads the resets on your own computer with the sign-in it already uses for usage. The cloud only hears the provider, what the reset refills, when it expires and a salted hash, so it can e-mail you once. With Share anonymous reset sightings on, it also hears the plan type, for the public tracker's anonymous count.
Can I turn the e-mail off?
Yes, in Settings › Notifications › Email. It is on by default and comes even with product news off, because it is about your own accounts.
Is it on the Free plan?
Yes. Limit reset alerts work on every plan, for every Claude and Codex account you added that Shuriken can check.
