How Codex's limits reset
Codex counts local messages per five-hour period on Plus and Business; Pro plans currently have no five-hour limit, and weekly limits may also apply [1]. Your Codex usage dashboard shows your current limits and reset times [1].
Since June 2026 Codex can also bank a reset to use later: eligible Go, Plus, Pro and Business accounts got one to start [2], and a banked reset lasts 30 days unless the offer says otherwise [3]. Using one clears your usage limits at once instead of waiting for the window to roll over.

What are Codex reset credits?
Banked resets: a saved reset that clears your Codex usage limits when you choose to use it, instead of waiting for the window to roll over. Eligible accounts got one to start in June 2026, and OpenAI loaded another into Plus, Pro and Business accounts in September 2026.
Do Codex reset credits expire?
Yes. A banked Codex reset lasts 30 days from when it is credited, unless the offer says otherwise.
When is the next free Codex limit reset?
Nobody announces them far ahead. This page shows a free reset as soon as Shuriken users see it on their own accounts, and you can sign up here to get auto-notified by e-mail when the next one drops.
Where these numbers come from
The history comes from the providers' own pages, their staff's posts and press that quotes them, each linked beside its row; we last checked it on . A live reset is shown once several people running the Shuriken app have seen it on their own accounts, or as soon as one of our own accounts has. What their app adds to this count is only the provider, what the reset refills, when it expires and a coarse plan: no account, device or address. You can read how on our security page.
